The soccer team is at it again. For the fourth consecutive year, the team took the sectional title in its game against Timberland on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The game was one of revenge, according to senior Ryan Hutson.

“They were the team that ended our season last year. People remembered that game, and people wanted revenge and redemption from it, so that was what was going through a lot of people’s heads,” Hutson said.

Remembering the loss fueled the team’s drive, yet it did not get the ball in the net until there was only 26:43 left in the game. Finally senior Tristyn Hasmer scored, giving the team a lead.

“[The goal] was super important, it pumped us up, but I mean we needed something because we didn’t have too much going before that. After that we played a lot better,” Hasmer said.

Senior Max Kirkpatrick went into the game level-headed although the memories of the team’s match against Timberland were still fresh in his head.

“We were confident, but not cocky or arrogant,” Kirkpatrick said.

The team’s win sets it up to play against Marquette this Saturday, Nov. 8, where the two teams will face off to determine who moves on to semifinals. Hutson, not ready to end his season plans focusing on the game like any other game.

“We know they’re a good team and we’re just gonna have to go out with the same intensity that we have been and try and win another game,” Hutson said.
