Boys basketball works hard with the season starting soon

Last week, the final cuts were made, and the rosters for the varsity basketball team were set. Now, with less than a month until their first game, the boys basketball team works to begin their season on a high note. Senior Jeff Desir says in addition to becoming a more successful team, they want to be a more complete team.

“We’ve been trying to improve on boosting the team bonding and chemistry among us,” Desir said. “It will be a key factor for our success.”

There are many methods to improving team chemistry, and the basketball team has been trying different ways recently.

“We try to become better friends,” Desir said. “We also want to see what common interests we all share.”

Desir believes that if the team has better chemistry, they will be more of a team overall.

Another issue that plagued the basketball team last year was their ineffectiveness of winning at home. Last year, the varsity squad managed only three home wins out of eight total home games. Winning at home, according to Desir, has to be a top priority if the team wants to go far this year.

“We definitely have to win at home a lot more than we did last year,” Desir said. “That was one issue we are all hoping to improve on.”

The boys basketball team will be participating in Fanfest this Friday at FHC — funds raised will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

The team’s first game is on Dec. 8, and they will be participating in a tournament at Hillsboro.
