2-1 record gives football team hope

After a first game struggle, the Spartan varsity football team has put its foot on the pedal, and has not looked back. Following a huge win against Vianney, the Spartans stuck it to the Troy Trojans in a somewhat lopsided victory, 41-28. The team is now 2-1 overall and are looking to continue to get better.

“There are still things that we work on in practices because we aren’t perfect, but we have definitely gotten better, and it’s good to see that we are improving,” said senior cornerback Zack Degrande.

Seniors Garner Wilson and Micah Alsobrook are carrying the team on the offensive side of the ball with five touchdowns a piece. Sophomore Chip Miller has been excellent at quarterback, passing for 653 yards with seven touchdowns and only four interceptions.

The next contest will be this Friday against the 2-1 Red Devils of Chaminade.
