So a couple days ago, I was reading this book and one of the characters really took a hit to the face. One of the other characters told her to rub an egg on it and I got really confused, so I looked it up, and now I’m going to share it with you because I think it’s really interesting!
According to ehow.com a boiled egg can help heal bruises to your skin faster than just naturally letting it heal. It says there are vitamins and protein the get into your skin, as well as the heat from the egg which opens up your pores, and the circular motion of rubbing it on your skin helps the blood move.
It’s pretty easy, really. Boil some water on the stove. When it’s boiling, and only after it’s boiling, put the egg in. If you do it before the water’s boiling, the egg shell will burst. Boil the egg for four to six minutes. (In my opinion, it’s better to have it a little over done then not done completely.) Once the egg has been boiled, carefully remove it and remember it’s hot so use a spoon to get it out and handle with an oven mitt or other form of protection from the heat. You’ll want to peel the shell off carefully. Remember not to burn yourself. I can’t say that enough. There’s no point in curing a bruise if you now have to deal with a burn.
After the shell is removed, wrap the bottom of the egg in a towel and rub it gently on your skin. Remember to move in a circular motion and it’s very important that the egg be hot. You don’t want it scalding hot, but warm won’t cut it with this. Do this for a few minutes, gradually increasing pressure, until the egg cools. Repeat this a few times per day for a couple days and your bruise will be gone in no time! Lucky for the character in that book; no one wants to go to school with a huge bruise on their cheek.
By the way, as a side note, this also works for hickeys, according to the website. Comments, questions, or suggestions? E-mail me at victorialynnwalker@yahoo.com.
