While some students were sitting at home relaxing over their spring break, the baseball team was hard at work preparing for the year.
“We try to prepare [the team] mentally as well as defensively and offensively, so that they aren’t surprised come game time,” said Coach Ray Howard.
According to junior center fielder Zach Isham, the team has been practicing its swinging skills and more mechanical aspects of the game.
“Because of the rain, we have only been able to practice on the freshman field twice, never [on] our own,” said Isham.
Both Howard and Isham imagined practices to be more accomplishing bfore the season, but they still have a clear and optimistic view on the restof the season.
“Our expectations are to improve our skills from last year and win districts and maybe conferences, and we will see where it goes from there,” said Coach Howard.
Isham sees the team making it even farther this year.
“We want a state title. We have a really powerful team this year, and I think we have a chance,” said Isham.
