Foreign language adopts a family

The foreign language department adopted an FHC family and granted their holiday wishes

For the foreign language department isn’t all about itself and the languages.  For a period of time around the Christmas holiday season during the school year, the foreign language department participates in a program called Adopt a Family. Family Program, a family that is in Francis Howell School district who is in financial need is “adopted”.  Throughout the collection period, students in the foreign language department may either donate money or a specific item that the family listed as a requested item.  Senior Nathan Buccholz knew the impact the program could have.

“This gave me the ability to help a family in need, from my position where I am able to donate.  The teacher put a list on the board of what we were supposed to bring in and what the families needed,” Buccholz said.

At the end of the program’s duration, all proceeds are then donated to the family in need.  To get the amount of proceeds up, classes like Ms. Dumas’ German class create little goals and competitions.
