Put an end to this

We are almost two months into 2018 and there have been 17 school shootings in the U.S. alone; that number may be up by now and I would not be surprised. There is no reason for any student or person to be able to carry a gun with them while on a school campus unless you are a security guard.

Young students are getting shot and killed left and right. They may not be from here or go to our school, but they made a huge impact.

Because of the school shooting in Florida that happened, students are scared to get up in the morning and drive to school because their mind is saying “what if our school is next?” School is supposed to be the safest place a kid can go to besides their own house, and now everyone- students, parents, teachers, are worried and scared for their lives when they should not be.

For these reasons alone, this is why we need a restriction when wanting to own a firearm. Too many people are getting hurt or killed because of gun violence and we have to keep our children safe.

For someone to own a gun they have to be 100% mentally fit, no criminal record whatsoever, and overall a full background, including who they live with, like spouse, children, etc.

If this is the only way to keep everyone and anyone safe, then we need to make it happen. Others have been hurt, mentally and physically, from these tragedies and it is time to put a end to them.
