Ms. Amy Roznos

Radical

I don’t believe I’ve ever had a viable reason to use this word other than my French teacher, Madame Roznos. She is the embodiment of rad, from the industrial piercing to the French puns she wears on her shirt. For the two years I’ve had Mme. Roznos, I have not found a teacher who is more unique or in touch with her quirky side than her. I see that French is not a conventional class like math or english, but a “normal” French teacher would most likely be worksheets everyday and weekly quizzes, but with Madame, we’re sitting on desks, with the class depending on us to know the word and win the game, or we’re screaming “casse” (broken) after winning French battleship, or watching dancing Jamaican worms singing about numbers. Each day in her class is whole new experience, and you never know what’s going to happen. She makes learning a new language the most fun in the world. I wish I had started language classes sooner, so I could continue learning from her. Every week, I look forward to a new “French Music Friday” in hopes of a new song I’ll like or our “dicton” which have become increasingly funnier as I’ve moved higher through my French classes; they’ve become puns or phrases with a literal translation which no one would ever think to say such as “you’re telling me salads”. It’s just untraditional and different in the best way. After every class, you’re wondering and ready for what’s happening next. It’s spontaneous. It’s fun. It’s radical. C’est tres radical.
