Great Griffin
Amy Wilkerson and Vivian Scott thank Mr. Griffin for his passion for music as their band director
Words cannot begin to explain my gratitude towards you. I’ve never had a teacher show so much patience with me. You’ve seen this potential in me that I didn’t even know I had. I just want to thank you for pushing me past my limits. I’m sure you’ve heard this numerous times, but I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without you, Mr. Messerli, or this band program. You’ve given me so many opportunities that I wouldn’t have dreamed of. Your passion for music has shaped this band program into what it is today. Even when the numbers weren’t in our favor at a competition, we didn’t have a good practice, or we weren’t acting like a family, you never lost sight of our potential. For that, I thank you.
-Amy Wilkerson
I don’t even know where to begin. You’ve believed in me probably more than anyone else in this building, and you’ve given me more amazing opportunities than I could ever begin to count. From the time I entered the band program to the end of senior year, you literally never gave up on me. You’ve taught me how to have confidence, and you showed me that no matter what I thought about myself, I was entirely capable of being a leader. The patience you have for everyone in band and the passion you have for music are two things that I look up to most. I know that as I move on from here, I will never forget all of the hard work you did for us, and personally, I know that your amazing character will still be influencing me even when I’m long gone. Thank you for helping shape me into the person you always knew I could be.
