It’s been our pleasure to spend the first semester covering you, Francis Howell Central, as you’ve gone through pep assemblies, first days, sports seasons, difficult classes, amazing moments and your normal, average school day.
Over the course of the next two weeks, each photographer on the FHC Photo team will share their favorite image they made from the first semester, as well as a few words about why they love this image.
Jordan Dusenberg’s: My favorite photo
This photo is a photo of our FHC volleyball team and how they work hard to win and don't give up in the prossess. This photo is really in focus and is nicely cropped. And in the photo you can really tell what's going on and whats going to happen next. It shows that she is spiking the ball. It shows how someone goes up for a spike. This aslo can show our ways of playing volleyball and how we play and ...
Brynlee Hendricks: my favorite photo
I love this photo because of the intensity of the moment which I captured. There is a whole range of emotions captured: happiness, anger, confusion, and perseverance. The girls' effort throughout their powder puff homecoming football game is shown through their faces, as well as the rhythm and motion of their bodies. All the little things make the picture seems to come to life, to almost be moving. V...
Mackenzie Craven : my favorite photo
This is my favorite photo because I captured the student section engaged and excited about the football game. It shows so much emotion and the quality is great. I really enjoy taking photos of football games but the student section is my favorite part to capture. The students are always into the game and it's a great way to experiment with getting great shots of action.
Josie Prince: my favorite photo
This is my favorite photo of the semester because the contrast of the lighter sky to the darker players is what made this photo stand out to me. You can’t see the player’s faces, but you can feel the anticipation of the Friday night football game. I love how the players are almost silhouetted against the pastel sky because it gives it a sort of peaceful vibe.
Zoe Lentz: my favorite photo
I personally like this picture because not only is it in focus but it was my first hockey game to shoot and for not ever being in a situation like that I think I did pretty good. The hockey puck is also in the photo which is hard to get sometimes especially with hockey.
Zach Jones: My favorite photo
I picked this picture as my favorite because you can see the emotion and intensity in the defenses faces and the action of Lauren dribbling up the court, and with various defenders following her down the court shows her athletic advantage over the competitor. You can tell a story from her eyes as she reads the defense and how she wants to pursue the upcoming possession for her team to eventually pull...
Connor Crites: My favorite photo
This is my favorite photo of the year because of how rare this event was. A week beforehand I had to purchase a solar filter, so my camera wouldn't break when I pointed it at the sun, and I managed to buy the last one in stock at the store. On the day of the eclipse, I set up a tripod and pointed it at the sun, and took one photo for every minute of the solar eclipse. This was difficult because I had...
This is my favorite picture of the year because it shows Francis Howell Central's football team showing support for Mrs. Roxanne Fetsch and her fight through cancer by wearing orange ribbons on their helmets. This photo means a lot to me because it's of my friend Scott Hoephner, who unfortunately passed away this school year. He will be dearly missed by everyone at FHC. Once a spartan, always a spartan.
Olivia Fong: my favorite photo
This is my favorite photo because it is a very clear depiction of the game. It shows the emotions of the players on both teams as well as the intensity of the game. This picture also shows how much effort was being put forth to win the game against their rival school, Francis Howell.
Sydney Robbins: My favorite photo
This is my favorite photo because it really captured the moment of our whole school coming together. At the end of the homecoming pep assembly the leaders announced there would a big surprise. Scott Harris then announced that the "big surprise" would be facetiming Mrs. Fetsch. Mrs Fetsch hasn't been able to teach this year because she found out the first day of school that she had adult acute lymphoblastic...
Olivia Hritzkowin: My favorite photo
This is my favorite photo of the semester. I love the emotion that this photo shows, the viewer can tell what is happening. Also, there are a lot of issues that photographers have to go through to get photos. When I took this photo, I got backlash for being on the field. Of course that sucked, but it made this photo that much better for me. I really wouldn't do anything different with this photo, I lo...
Ethan Wagman: my favorite photo
This photo is my favorite for a few reasons. I do not think that I could have gotten a better angle for this shot. I feel like if I was to her right we could not see her face. If I was in front the photo would not be nearly as cool. It might have been even awkward. I love this photo because even in a poorly lit position I was still able to keep my shutter speed high and get a perfectly still shot....
Belen Herrera: my favorite photo
This would be my favorite photo of the semester, I even named it “The Headless Trumpeter.” Although I had very many photos of mine that I was extremely proud of that I could’ve used, this one caught my attention because it’s the only photo I have like this. I always saw dramatic photos in magazines or in the “Top 100 Photos of the Year” type lists but I truly never thought I’d see myself ...
Alura Berry: my favorite photo
This is my favorite photo of the year so far because I feel like it’s so unique compared to the kinds of photos I usually get when shooting for publications. I really like how the golden hour sunlight is cast on the football players from the side so there’s this contrast between the light and the shadows being made. Shooting football is really tricky because so much is happening so quickly; there...
Emily Hall: my favorite photo
This is my favorite photo of the semester because of the story it tells. The win was unique in that it was sectionals, and being postseason, the win meant that much more to the spartans. The emotions of all of the boys in the photo really make you feel like you’re there in the moment. The scoreboard also documents the time left in the overtime and the score before we won the game. Without this p...
Grace James: my favorite photo
This is my favorite picture because of the story that this picture tells. It was Senior Night and one of their last meets before GACs, and the team was determined to perform well and win for the seniors that were leaving. I love how you can see his face and the emotion expressed through his hand raised in the air. You can see the pure joy and excitement in his face from winning and I think t...
Gracie Kruep: my favorite photo
This is my favorite photo because I love the emotion and pure excitement within the picture. The boys soccer team had just won districts with ease and they were filled with joy about winning. I also love how the dark background contrasts with the beautiful yellow shade of the players' hair. It really pulls the attention forward and makes the viewer focus on the boy's excited expressions.
