Mr. Schott informing students about the fine art of journalism

Mr. Schott

Social media editor Kayla Reyes appreciates adviser Mr. Schott in this letter

Dear Schott,

This school year has been one of the best of my life. Being in newspaper has given me the greatest passion I’ve ever known, and I’m so grateful to you for being a mentor and role-model throughout my process of growing as a journalist. You are truly the best teacher I’ve ever had, and having you to guide me has changed my life. I’ve grown so much in your class this year, and I owe it almost all to you. You’ve taught me so much about journalism, writing and life itself. You’ve encouraged me to and pushed me to do my best no matter what. You’re the first teacher I’ve had who truly believes in me and who makes me feel as though I have a real chance at succeeding at what I want to do. Because of you, I found my love for journalism, the only thing I’ve ever felt ready for and excited to do for the rest of my life. I feel so comfortable with journalism, yet it is something that challenges me every day and will continue to do so for as long as I pursue it. I want you to know how greatly you’ve impacted my life and how truly amazing you are. Newspaper is what I look forward to each day, and I have no idea where I’d be without it. I am beyond excited to continue to grow over the course of the next two years, and help make our paper the best it can be. I want this class to continue to be students’ happy place for as long as I’m here, and I want to help them grow in the process. I’m so eager to help and teach incoming staffers, and I want to encourage everyone to love this experience as much I have. Being in this class has been the single most amazing thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing, and a big part of that comes from you. Any school can have a newspaper class, but they can’t get very far without a great teacher. You inspire me to challenge myself every day, and I’ll never forget being in your class. Regardless of where I end up, I will always be grateful for your guidance and remember what you’ve taught me. Thank you for teaching me to believe in myself, and thank you for being the best teacher I’ve ever had.
