Final four face off
The soccer team’s dreams off claiming the state championship were thwarted by Lee’s Summit late last week in a close 2-1 loss in the state semifinals.
“For me and my team to work this hard and to have gotten to this point makes me proud,” senior Marc Crawford said.
Both teams battled it out in the first half, with the Spartans unable to find the back of the net. Lee’s Summit on the other hand managed to slip one in before the end of the half, putting the Spartans down 1-0.
Early in the second half, Lee’s Summit scored again. The Spartans picked it up in when senior Ryan Hutson scored our first goal; shot after shot, the team was unable to capitalize on that momentum to tie the game.
