The girls varsity soccer team competed in a three game tournament over spring break, resulting in two wins and a loss. They won against Fort Zumwalt East and Troy, and lost their winning streak against Eureka in the final four minutes in the championship game 1-0.

For sophomore Mariah Johnson, she is proud of the way her teams accomplishment and believes it was a good start to the season.

“Our biggest accomplishment was playing to our fullest to compete with the teams we were up against,” Johnson said. “I think making it into the championship was a great start to the season.”

For sophomore Molly Krispin, this tournament was a way the team could get the feel of playing together and learning eachothers skills.

“I think the tournament went really well. We learned a lot about our team and how we all mix together.” Krispin said. “This was our first tournament with the new players so learning how we all play will be a good way to practice what we need to work on.”

Johnson agrees, stating that the team’s communication could be worked on for future games.

“I think one thing we need to work on is our communication with each other. When we communicate we work the ball better and play as a team, not as individuals,” Johnson said.

For freshman Caitlyn Brown, being a freshman on the varsity team is a big accomplishment, since not a lot of young players get the opportunity.

“I feel like it’s a good opportunity and it’s nice knowing I’m good at what I do and I can bring something new to the team,” Brown said.

For Brown and Krispin, looking forward to winning future games all while having fun is the biggest motivation to get back on the turf.

“I’m ready to just play with my team again. As much as we want to win, we also look forward to having fun while doing it,” Brown said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how much we’ll achieve this season and I think we have a strong season ahead,” Krispin said.

The next game is on Thursday, March 30th against Francis Howell as visitors at 6pm.
