Girls soccer victory at sunset
Lady Spartans defeat Howell behind two goals from Angel Ikeda
The girls soccer team claimed victory against a Spartans biggest rival, the Howell Vikings. On Tuesday, April 18, the entire first half created tension on the bench as neither net caught a ball after a lot of back and forth on the field. Come second half, though, plays came together and Spartans won 3 – 1 with Angel Ikeda scoring two goals and Abby Nessl scoring one.
Ikeda scored one last goal just seconds before the timer buzzed, heading a ball that Taylor Amlong had kicked from the corner, causing an eruption of cheers and music from the bleachers in response.
“Oh, it’s amazing, especially because you know these girls all have passion for the game, they all love it, so I know it means a lot to them individually and you can see it on the bench. Our bench gets up and screams and they all go crazy” Coach Taylor Yocum said.
