In a close back-and-forth match against Holt, the hockey team started out strong with a goal in the seventh minute. Keeping a lead for most of the first period, the Spartans were confident until, in the 13th minute, Holt capitalized on a goal and tied the game. Then, in the last 40 seconds of the first period, Holt put the puck in the net once more putting the Spartans down 2-1.

The second period was a relief for the Spartans when they scored once more, tying the game 2-2. Then again, Holt retaliated and made the score 3-3. In the last period, the Spartans were not losing hope, and in the last three minutes, the Spartans tied the game up, making the final score 3-3.

“We had a good team effort,” right wing Grant Curtis said. “We had good energy and we were ready to put the other games in the past, we actually played how we should that night.”

After a tough start, the Spartans are determined to not let that bring them down moving forward with their season.
