Q & A with Adam Decker

Breana Epperson

Adam Decker has been on swim for three years. Decker enjoys Swim and has grown significantly since starting.

How long have you been doing Swim?

I’ve been doing it for three years

Why did you choose to start swimming?

So I used to do martial arts and it was getting to the point where it was kind of boring and I just wanted something different.

What’s your favorite part about Swim?
Definitely the teamwork, everybody kind of working together, cheering each other on

Has Swim affected you in any ways other than your swimming?

It’s definitely made me a little bit more open. Because before,I had my small group of friends and I just stayed with them. Then when I meet new people… I kind of just broadened my horizons

Do you have a favorite memory from being on Swim?
There have been a few. Especially at practices. Freshman year there was one where we all went, like, running in the rain because we didn’t know what to do for… dry land. That’s what you do before you get in the water. We all went running in the rain because Coach wasn’t there to tell us not to. It was a lot of fun.

What’s your biggest strength in Swim?

My best stroke is probably breaststroke. It’s just what I always get to work out

How have you changed as a swimmer since starting Swim?
I’m a lot stronger of a swimmer because before, I could swim, I just wasn’t very fast and, you know, I kept getting better progressions.

What would you tell someone who’s thinking about joining Swim?

I say, do it just for the sole purpose of meeting new people and even if you don’t like it, they’re gonna be people there that are going to encourage you to keep going and not give up.
