The echo of laughter dominated the court as the girls tennis team reunited for their new season. This season they reunited ready for a new season, new team, new game. As the season starts, the girls prepare for their first home game on Aug 25 at 3:30 against Pattonville High School.

Senior Samantha Nardi is eager to start this season with fresh faces and new beginnings. Since almost half of the team are seniors, Nardi wants this year to be the best since it’s their last.

“It’s exciting to see what this year is going to bring us, like new challenges, new people, and new coaching,” Nardi said. “But it’s also bittersweet because I know how fast tennis season flies by and I don’t want it to end.”

Senior Andrea Kohrs has been playing since her sophomore year, this season the team has grown and so have their skills.

“All the new people are freshman and sophomores and one junior, our team has expanded a lot this year which is great,” Kohrs said. “We have grown so much as a team over the years.”

This year, the team has almost 30 players, more than half of them are trying tennis for the first time. Although the team is made up of new players, the other half is there to guide them and show them how they can be strong in unity. Senior Rachel Bohrer is excited to help direct her teammates and show them that they have what it takes to succeed.

“I can’t wait to get to know them better and help them improve some of their skills,” Bohrer said. “We do have a lot of juniors and sophomores who are really solid players and show a lot of potential.”
