PC gaming is expensive right? Well let’s shoot that ridiculous idea full of holes. I’m going to show a PC build, complete with an operating system for $600, with links to each of the products.
If you’re new around here, check out this video if you’re interested in building a PC: How to build a PC – Newegg

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 740K 3.8GHz – $77.99

This is a solid processor for the money. With four cores and pushing close to a 4.0GHz clock speed, this processor is a great way to get to the sweet spot of value per dollar. Despite being older technology, this is a great choice.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A78M-D3H – $63.99

This isn’t the best motherboard, I’ll admit, but it has some great features for the price and will do for our needs. Although I wouldn’t suggest overclocking on this motherboard, it will do.

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 4GB (2x2GB)- $42.99

It’s fast, and it’s cheap. Memory isn’t too difficult to pick out for budget build and this memory does the job for the price. 4GB should handle fine for most games, but if you have a little more money to spend, I’d upgrade to 8GB. Just remember that what you get to divide it into two sticks to take advantage of dual channel memory on the motherboard.

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM – $54.99

Storage drives are rather cheap for so much memory. This is always upgradeable and should serve as plenty of storage space for awhile.

Video Card: ASUS 7770 2GB GDDR5 – $139.99

This is an older card, but an upgraded version of an older card, sporting 2GB of GDDR5 memory. The card also comes with ASUS’ GPU Tweak software to make the card easily overclockable.

Power Supply: Corsair CX500 80 PLUS BRONZE – $59.99

I’m biased. I love Corsair, but I highly suggest one of their power supplies. They’re reliable and give your system good a consistent power. If your budget can’t afford this system, do not cut here. Despite other components, you do not want to skip on a quality power supply.

Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 – $35.99

Fractal makes great cases for all price points. This is a very inexpensive case that has great airflow, a comfortable space to work in, and is sleek and professional looking.

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64 bit – $99.99

This one is pretty easy. It’s really preference one weather to go with Windows 7 or Windows 8. Both are the same price, just comes down to the look and feel someone is looking for.

…And the total is: $576
