Boys soccer lives another day
In a tense, even sectional matchup against Pattonville on Oct. 31 at Pattonville, the boys soccer team won 3-2, nine minutes into overtime. The Pirates had had several chances for a goal off of two free kicks, but the Spartans were the first to capitalize off a bouncing ball in the eight-yard box when Joey Mueller buried the ball in the back of the net. The two other goals were scored by Tony Nicastro on a break away and Caleb Mundle on a penalty kick.
Mueller detailed what the team will do to prepare for its next game.
“We have three days of practice [this week]. We are going to practice against their style of play, and work hard at practice to try to prepare [for the game on Saturday],” Mueller said.
Show up to support your Spartans on Saturday, Nov. 4 at CBC with the game starting at 6 p.m. as they look to qualify for the Class 4 semifinals.
