With the nerves running high, Francis Howell Central varsity girls basketball faced off against Parkway Central on Dec. 7. The two teams battled it out on the court with tension growing with every play. In the end, Francis Howell Central emerged victorious 48-14 against Parkway Central. This win kicked off a good beginning season for varsity girls basketball as it was one of their first games of the tournament season.

“It was a tough team, but I think we definitely did what we were supposed to do,” said junior player Jocelyn Morelli. “They’re ranked high in the state…but we beat them last year so we…had [to have] the same mindset [and] work harder [to win].”

Varsity girls basketball next home game is on Jan. 4, and they will be facing off against Francis Howell North high school. There are a few more home games after the one against North since the girls are participating in the basketball state tournament.
