The Francis Howell School District announced its 2011 Howell of Fame recipients this past week. Band Director Nathan Griffin and Guidance Counselor Kathy Bargeon at Francis Howell Central, along with eleven other staff in the district, were selected to receive the award. The Howell of Fame was established in 1987 to honor members in the community who have made a big impression on the students of the district.
“It is an honor bestowed to people who go above and beyond for students,” said Mrs. Mary Boyd, former winner, Department Chair of Special Education and part of this year’s selection committee.
Anyone who volunteers, serves or teaches in the Francis Howell School District can be nominated. The nominations can come from anyone who thinks a person deserves the award. The thirteen people chosen this year will join the other 126 members at an upcoming awards ceremony on May 2.
“I was completely surprised and shocked when I found out,” Mr. Griffin said.
