After the first Scholar Quiz Bowl competition of the 2011-2012 season Tuesday, the team is feeling increasingly confident in regards to their ability to win and have fun over the course of the season.
The first competition at Fort Zumwalt North, hosted by coach Laura Gianini, was a smooth outing for the St. Charles League. All league schools were present, some with multiple teams, as a total of 14 teams participated throughout the competition, and are expected to participate in the remaining games now outlined in the official schedule.
The competition had predetermined outside moderators for each match, a perk for all coaches as they are the usual moderators for games and are not able to focus on their own teams’ progress and success.
The varsity team for Central won one game and lost the other, while the junior varsity team lost both games. After every match this year the team will be acknowledging the highest team and individual scores of each competition.
“I only heard very positive reviews on the competition as a whole for players and coaches alike. All in all, I feel we did quite well, and everyone came away feeling good about the games,” said coach Sharon King, “We would also like to thank Mr. Scott Harris once more for his support financially and in providing a bus to all competitions for the team.”
