The Spartan softball team brought home a 14-4 win against Fort Zumwalt North on Wednesday October 5th. This was  much needed; the Spartans were facing a team record of 11-14. According to Senior Varsity pitcher Lindsay Powell, the team’s determination to turned the score around.

“Our mindset going in was just to pull together and get the win,”Powell said.

However, it took a bit for the Spartans to really take off. The game started off slow, with both teams warming up. Things finally started heating up after the girls tied up in the third inning.

“ After the third inning, we really started to come together as a team and began hitting off of the pitcher more,”Powell said.

The team has many different strong points, but for Sophmore varsity player Claudia King their true strength is in the bond they share.

“Our strength as a team would have to be how we are truly a family, we always bring each other up. We are able to create such a fun atmosphere that really helps us play our game and do the best we possibly can,”King said.

Despite the team record, Powell is optimistic about the team’s future this season.

“ I expect the team to go far if we keep pulling together that way we have been.” said Lindsay Powell.

Their next game is on Oct. 6th against Fort Zumwalt West at Fort Zumwalt South.
