Wrestling is back
First match on 11/30
The starting of the wrestling season is here. November 30, is the first match of the season and our wrestlers are more than ready. There are people that we already know, like Corey Wait, and then there are some are new to the varsity team, like Bryce Alberty.
Wait, in his 11th year wrestling, has high hopes for himself and the team this season. He has such a passion for the sport and always likes when this season starts. He has goals for himself and as well as the team.
“I am hoping to be pretty high in state, maybe take 8th place for the team and as a self goal, I want to have a few losses and top 3 in state,” Wait said.
Wait started to wrestle because of his family involvement with wrestling and he had an interest in it. He plans to do his very best this season, and plans to wrestle in college then see where it takes him.
“My whole family has wrestled, all of my brothers have,” Wait said, “I also plan to wrestle all throughout college, I haven’t decided whether or not it to be what I do in the future.”
Wait is not the only person though who is excited for the season. Alberty has been a wrestler the past 2 years, this is his first year on varsity. He is most excited for being on the team.
“I am most excited for the team, not because of how we are going to perform, but because everyone on the team has great work ethic and we all get along pretty well,” Alberty said.
Alberty’s more than happy to be there. He has always loved the sport and he also has a passion for it like Wait, even though he has not been wrestling as long as he has.
“I have always enjoyed watching the sport. Also, I needed something to help escape the winter,” Alberty said.
The main thing that both Wait, Alberty and the other wrestlers is to do better than last season and to have fun and to work together as a team. And all of that will start on November 30.
