“It’s the first opportunity for us to get together, go over the rules, set and solidify our teams for the year — while also asking for full commitment from students — and get to know each other in a fun environment,” said King.
Coaches will also be deciding on which schools will host official competitions throughout the year. King hopes to secure a competition hosting date in January for FHC.
First semester will be composed mainly of St. Charles League games, while second semester will be the higher caliber competitions at venues such as Washington University.
“No one is expected to know every answer and no one is criticized. Scholar Quiz Bowl is a warm and welcoming group for everyone. We would especially like to thank [Activities Director] Mr. Scott Harris for providing buses to almost all competitions, showing his support for all extra-curricular activities, not just sports,” said King.
Competition dates for the season are Nov. 15 and 29, Dec. 13, Jan. 10 and 24, Feb. 7 and playoffs on Feb. 21.
