Boys basketball falls to Howell

Senior Clark Hepler struggles to keep the ball away from a Howell guard.

At 7 P.M. on Friday, Feb. 26, there was hardly an open seat in the gym at Francis Howell Central. The boys basketball team was taking on rival school, Francis Howell High School, in a high stakes game. In addition, basketball, Sensations, and cheerleading celebrated their senior nights, Ultimate Spartans and state qualifiers were recognized.
The team fought hard, and held the lead through most of the game. It wasn’t until the last minute that Howell took the lead in a heartbreaking loss. According to senior Cameron Lundberg, even though the team lost, they learned many valuable lessons to help them in the District competition this week.
“It sucked losing to Howell at home, but there were a lot of good takeaways. They are the No. 1 seed in our district so it’s proving that we can lead the game the majority of it,” Lundberg said. “It shows they’re not as untouchable as many people think they are.”
