Students are recognized for their outstanding character with the Silver Shield of Excellence
On Thursday, March 10, 99 students sat in the auditorium, anxiously awaiting the discovery of who awarded them their Silver Shield of Excellence award. The 18th annual ceremony gives teachers a chance to select students who they have connected with in the past year, and recognize the impact they have had on their lives.
Recipients felt many different emotions upon learning of their presenter, including surprise and excitement. Some even teared up over the kind words written about them. Senior Abby Dwyer was awarded her Silver Shield by history teacher and Catholics in Action club sponsor Mr. Donald Lober.
“After 15 years of teaching, I can finally say that I have met a student that I look up to. That is no easy feat, especially since I am awesome,” Lober wrote. “Abby is the most deserving nominee I have ever awarded the Silver Shield to. She is so amazing that I hope my daughter, Audrey grows up to be just like her!”
