The scholar quiz bowl season is coming to a close. After a strong showing Feb. 21 at the St. Charles league playoff matches, the team is ranked fourth out of 17 teams in its district.
“This year we lost a lot of people who had been on the team since its start three years ago, but the new teammates we got to replace them have performed just as well in the long run and I believe we’ve built a lot of lasting bonds,” said senior captain Nic Deckard.
In the upcoming weeks, the team has only two more contests to attend. The team will be attending its respective GAC tournament and the prestigious Washington University tournament on March 10, which will feature teams from all over the St. Louis area.
Its fourth place finish is the second best finish in the four years scholar quiz bowl has been in action, and this year has proven to be just as fun to Coach Sharon King.
“Scholar quiz bowl is all about having fun doing what you love, and that’s what we’ve accomplished this season; a competitive, safe and shared environment for gifted learners to shine in their best subjects while having a great time,” said King.
