Youth in Government (YIG) is back and bigger than ever this year. Over 40 students are participating in the club, which will revolve around learning and practicing the workings of the government. The students will then attend a convention in Jefferson City, which is what YIG’s whole year is preparation for.
According to Mrs. Margo Hoffman, the club sponsor, YIG is now writing bills for the Jefferson City Convention, which, due to the large number of students involved, only a limited number of members can attend.
“Mrs. Hoffman is more strict this year on attending meetings because we have so many kids,” senior Nick Staudacher said.
According to Staudacher, the size of the club will become more problematic when the club goes to Jefferson City. However, he is still excited for the convention. Staudacher will be the assistant technical director for the state of Missouri at the convention. This means that he will edit videos of all the YIG students and broadcast them over the TVs in the hotel.
“I’m excited to go down to Jeff City and have fun at the convention,” Staudacher said.
