The Harbinger

Harbinger publications,

As a fellow high school journalist, I wanted to take some time to share with you how much I enjoy your newspaper and website. I am an editor on the Central Focus staff of Francis Howell Central in St. Charles, MO. Inspired by the 26 Acts of Kindness phenomenon sparked by the Sandy Hook tragedy, our staff decided to start our our own 26 Acts of J-Kindness.

There are many things that impress me about your publications. First and foremost, it is amazing that you release a newspaper every two weeks. I know how hard it is to prepare the stories, pictures and pages that fill newspapers, and to do so in such little time is admirable.

I especially enjoy the “Photo of the Week” feature on your website, which includes many outstanding photos. While browsing the website, I came across the story “SM East Theater Prepares for ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’”, which is a well written article by Kim Hoedel. Other stories that stuck out to me were “School Shooting Creates Concern, Heightens Security” and

“Newtown Community Member Speaks to Students About the Shooting” which address an important, yet touchy, subject. It was brave of these reporters to write about such a subject.

Thank you for proving to people around the world that high school publications provide the best journalism has to offer.

From our publication family to yours,

Jessica Mugler

Central Focus staff
