Quite frankly, I am not a morning person. I never have been, I never will be, and I never want to be. Not surprisingly, first hour was never a good hour for me in my preceding years of high school, hardly doing much except strengthening my lust for the warm bed I was in a mere hour before. But this year was different, this year I enjoyed waking up in the morning to go to first hour.
One of the big reasons for this change of heart was the teacher. Though we didn’t start out the year in the best of ways, we gradually became less resentful of each other as the year went on.
This teacher has a teaching style that is still quite special. She teaches the class by allowing it to be mostly student led, with a lot of class discussions and work. Though some people are not fans of this type of learning, it is generally more effective than just memorizing facts, and works especially well for English and science classes.
She is one of those teachers who ends up being more than just another teacher. The way she interacts with students is different from the repetitive mentor to student dialogue; when she asks how your weekend was, you feel as if she actually cares.
That’s what makes her exceptionally special as a teacher, her connection with her students. Letting us lead our learning, taking quizzes along with us, establishing a friendly environment, all of these are just some of what makes her a great teacher.
So I have to thank you, Ms. Fay, for being such an amazing teacher.
