The bowling team is continuing to gain momentum and work towards a successful season. It meets every Thursday at Cave Springs lanes and practice from 3 p.m to 5 p.m. During these practices, the team works on basic bowling skills. The team has had two practices so far this year.
These skills that are being polished at practices are put to use in weekly games which are held Sundays at 10:30 a.m. There, the team bowls three games against another team. These games are typically five players vs. five players.
“We bowl against teams from the Fort Zumwalt school district and the Francis Howell school district, and occasionally St. Louis schools come out and bowl against us during tournaments.” said Senior David Poole.
Games and tournaments allow students on the bowling team an opportunity to earn scholarship money. Bowling teams raise money on Sunday games and are able to win scholarships by doing well at the District and State Tournaments.
The bowling team continues to hope for more support of the activity. Poole thinks bowling is a great opportunity for students.
“I personally enjoy bowling for just the great atmosphere and the cool people I’ve grown close to,” Poole said.
The bowling team’s first game is expected to occur in early October.
