Soccer team stays sharp
The varsity soccer team has continued the season strongly, winning games against Granite City High School and Parkway Central High School in the past week.
The key performer in Thursday night’s victory against Granite City was two goals scored by senior forward Taylor Yocum. Senior Corey Scharf added another goal to ice the Spartans’ victory 3-0 Thursday.
Again on Friday night, the Spartans defeated Parkway Central High in double overtime by a score of 4-3. Another strong offensive performance saw four Spartans score. Yocum and Scharf scored, while senior Christian Baez and sophomore Ryan Miller also found the back of the net.
“[We’re] looking pretty sharp, finishing a lot [of games],” said Yocum.
By not letting up, the team is finishing every game strong.
The soccer team (3-0) is looking forward to its next contest against Hickmann High School Friday night in Columbia.
