Vocalist qualifies for MOFAA

Sophomore Margaret Borgmeyer will attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy (MOFAA) as a vocalist this summer.

“There are 150 students going, probably 30 or so for vocals,” said Borgmeyer. “To apply, I had to video-record myself singing an Italian aria and a Broadway tune.”

MOFAA recommends that vocalist nominees submit both choral songs and show tunes. In addition to vocalists, dancers, actors and musicians all participate in MOFAA. At first, Borgmeyer will not know anyone at MOFAA; she is the school’s only qualifier.

“I think it’s a really good opportunity,” said Borgmeyer. “You spend three weeks at a college campus, and you meet new people.”

MOFAA takes place during June at Missouri State University. While at Missouri State, Borgmeyer will take classes furthering her artistic talent.

“You have to take one class that is for all arts,” said Borgmeyer. “Then I’ll take classes specializing in vocals.”

All MOFAA participants will receive three hours college credit for 101-Interdisciplinary Seminar. A typical day’s schedule and other information can be found on MOFAA‘s website.
