The varsity boys soccer team started off it’s season with a win over Parkway Central High School. The team overcame a sluggish start and a wet and slippery field to come out with a 2-1 win.
Junior forward Ryan Miller scored both goals for the Spartans, including the only goal in the second half which put the team ahead for good.
“We started the game slowly,” said senior defender Daniel Rozycki. “But near the end of the first half and in the second half we got our acts together.
Junior goaltender Levi Morris overcame a damp and muddy field and only allowed one goal during the game.
“The ball was skipping on and off the ground a lot because it was wet,” said Rozycki.
The team’s next game is on Thursday night when the team will travel to Granite City High School to take on the Warriors.
