International club makes preparations for homecoming parade

International Club held its second meeting yesterday, Sept. 7 at 7 a.m. The club met in Mrs. Katie Lozano’s room to discuss its participation in the homecoming parade.

“We talked about t-shirt money and the Homecoming parade,” Mrs. Lozano said.

The club has never participated in the homecoming parade before, they plan to this year. This is the club’s fourth year with Mrs. Lozano as the club sponsor; before her, the sponsor was Mrs. Jane Zeiser.

“I don’t think the club has ever participated in the Homecoming parade before, at least not under my supervision,” Mrs. Lozano said.

After considering many ideas, such as making a float, banner or walking in the parade, the club decided they will be walking in the parade. Students suggested dressing up as a nationality while they walk, but currently they are not fully sure what they will be doing.

“We have a small group participating in the parade,” Mrs. Lozano said. “We will be having another meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 a.m.”

Along with a follow up meeting next week about the parade, International Club will be holding a meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. about the trip to Spain over spring break. The deadline for signing up for the trip will end later this month.

If any student is interested in participating in the parade, in the Spain trip or both then they should speak with Mrs. Lozano as soon as possible.
