Softball team picks up much needed victory
The varsity softball team defeated Fort Zumwalt West by a score of 8-3 on Sept. 20, as the team has now won two of its past three games.
The win was much needed as the season has been a tough one for the softball team, which has won only four games. This may be contributed to the competition, which is at an all time high for the team.
“We compete with some of the best teams in the area,” senior Jena Bachowski said.
The Lady Spartans do indeed compete in the highly competitive Gateway Athletic Conference, which features two teams with only one loss on their record: Francis Howell and Holt. Nevertheless, the team’s poor execution has been its downfall, according to Bachowski.
“We play hard every game,” Bachowski said. “[We] just can’t execute in our games.”
The team hopes to keep its momentum from the victory as they face rivals Francis Howell North this Thursday night.
