Cross country teams dash before dancing
The girls and boys cross country teams both placed in the top ten with fifth place for boys and seventh place for girls at the Hazelwood West Invitational meet on Friday.
“The boys did pretty good, and they are all running fast times,” sophomore Madison Grumich said. “Senior Sydney Voss placed fifth out of about 200 girls and freshman Brittany Kennedy got tenth.”
Grumich is running varsity for the first time this year and keeps improving her time as the season goes on.
“I got my new best time in the meet of 22:26 and it was over a minute faster than last year. I got third out of our top seven varsity runners,” Grumich said.
According to Grumich, the team is improving and new teammates are very helpful this season.
“Most of us are dropping times from last year and Brittany Kennedy is a good addition to the team,” Grumich said.
The team’s next meet is at Parkway West on Saturday at 8 a.m. The meet will be over before homecoming to allow students time to get ready for the big dance.
