As the girls cross country season begins, numbers are low, but according to Coach Michelle Breuer, the team has potential to be successful. With only two true varsity runners at the start of the season, there are four runners who Breuer expects to join varsity runners by GAC’s.
Junior Madison Grumich and freshman Brittney Kennedy will represent varsity for the girls team at the first meet on Mon. August 27 at Quail Ridge, while Coach Breuer is still unsure whether senior Megan Gaglio, junior Jessica Mugler and sophomores Luda Young and Katherine Wolf will run varsity or junior varsity.
“They have potential, but I am debating whether or not I want to run them at JV to get the experience before running varsity,” Coach Breuer said.
According to Breuer, the team is very close and connected this season. They will have team dinners every thursday night which includes a meal, talking about team goals and growing as a group.
“The girls are very team-oriented. It is a good coachable group and they are easy to encourage,” Breuer said. “There is a sense of camaraderie between the girls and it is a work hard, play hard kind of group. They are unique in that way.”
