Three games, three wins, and a Homecoming proposal. Just another week for varsity girls volleyball as they have put together a respectable winning streak.
Wins against Holt and Troy have cemented the team with a 6-5 record on the season going into a home match against Francis Howell North at 6 p.m. tonight.
Monday was an especially successful day for the team winning against Holt for the second time in three days 2-0. According to coach, Mark McAfee, the girls were in top form.
“I was extremely pleased with the way the girls came out today. After the first couple points of the second game, they were flawless,” said McAfee
Prior to the game, one of the team’s captains, senior Jenna Rekosh, asked her boyfriend, Jake Shoemake to Homecoming.
“I thought it would be the perfect time, and a cute way to ask,” said Rekosh, who had a solid performance in the game as well. “I moved to the center from the outside, which is a whole lot of work, the main difference is more passing. But we’re still working out all the kinks in the lineup and getting better every day.”
After tonight’s game against FHN, the girls have a four day break before games against Rockwood Sept. 17 and Fort Zumwalt West Sept. 18.
