Shanika leads team to victory
The Spartan varsity softball team brought home a win yesterday, defeating the Lions of Fort Zumwalt East by a score of 2-1. The Lions came into the game 17-6, whereas the Spartans came in 14-7.
Senior Sarah Shanika pitched a great game, allowing no earned runs through seven innings. She put up 10 strikeouts in the game and also got a hit. The only two runs Central manufactured were hit in by junior Paige Boehmer. Senior Tarah Moutray was 2-2 in three plate appearances with two walks and a single. She is on the leader board in the greater St. Louis area in home runs with five.
As the Spartans advance in the district tournament, their next challenge will be against the Bulldogs of Fort Zumwalt South today.
