The neon t-shirts worn by the student section reflected the fluorescent stadium lights of the football field. The tremendous roar that followed each firstdown and advancement by Francis Howell Central’s varsity football team rivaled that of the opponent’s. Despite the high spirits and determination, FHC lost to O’Fallon Township High School 26-20 on Sept. 13. That night also marked the 6th annual, Light the Field event that Central hosts in honor of those who have been lost to or are still fighting cancer.

“Games are the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and de-stress from the busy school week.” sophomore Jenna Woelfel said. “It was also nice to participate in the Light the Field event. I think it’s a beautiful thing to see so many people to come together to support a common cause despite busy schedules.”

Varsity football plays Francis Howell High at Howell on Sept. 20, and they play again Sept. 27 for homecoming against Holt.
