Senior Connor Phillips runs towards teammate Noah Heath after scoring during districts semifinals.

After a strong season, the boys soccer team headed to district semifinals in their game against Pattonville on Nov. 2. The game ended 4-0 in the Spartan’s favor, with goals scored by Jimmy Sanchez, Josiah Gould, Connor Phillips, and Tanner Jones. The win led the team to district finals against Francis Howell High. After previously losing at the beginning of districts, Captain Jimmy Sanchez explains how exciting it felt when the team finally advanced this year.

“We were preparing by making sure we fixed small mistakes that we noticed in games,” Sanchez said. “Beating Pattonville was a great feeling as we seniors have not won a district game, so it felt like a curse was lifted off of us.”

The team advances to finals hosted by Howell on Nov. 4, where they fight for the first place title.
