For the first time since 2017, the boys soccer team advanced to district finals after beating Pattonville two days prior. The team went up against rival Francis Howell in an aggressive match on Nov. 4. Throughout the game, red and yellow cards were given out to multiple players on each team. Ultimately the Spartans lost 5-1 to the Vikings, earning them the second place title in districts. Senior Connor Phillips, whose last game was cut short after receiving a red card, expresses how this abrupt ending affected him.

“It was very defeating,” Phillips said. “All the passion, drive, and hard work put in just to get cut off out of nowhere like that. The only thought running through my mind was that this may be my last ever moment on the field for high school soccer.”

This was the last game for the team who will return next year with another chance to win the first place title.
