After having already matched its win total from last year, the Spartan football team went into Chaminade bearing a 2-1 record and with a new sense of confidence. Facing the 2-2 Red Devils proved to be too much, however, with the Spartans falling in a one-sided affair, 63-35.
Senior Micah Alsobrook is the team leader with six touchdowns on the year, followed by senior Garner Wilson and junior Kaleb Cooper, who both have five. Sophomore Chip Miller continues to show his maturity, completing almost 60 percent of his passes with nearly 100 yards, nine touchdowns and only five interceptions.
After a loss, the team feels that it is important to move on and build on the positives coming out of the game.
“We saw a lot of good things, and even though we lost, we need to build on them,” said senior Zack Degrande. “If we don’t put this one in the past, we won’t play good for the rest of the season.”
The Spartans look to rebound against the 1-3 Holt Indians in the Homecoming game this Friday.
