Boys swim team focuses on making record time

The boys swim team takes first against Zumwalt East on Wednesday Oct. 12 continuing to improve the team’s score and advance progress towards state.

“I swam for my club team a week before the Zumwalt meet and was getting close to state time in the 200 meter freestyle,” senior Andrew Smith said. “I didn’t make 1:52 minutes needed to make state time, but I am looking forward to our next meet to qualify.

This week, on Wednesday Oct. 19, the team prepares to compete against Zumwalt South. The squad was defeated by South in the Howell North invitational meet, and according to Smith, the team seeks redemption.

“In order to improve our chances of winning, the team has been highly focused on our relay teams,” Smith said. “Relays receive the highest amount of points, so if we make good time, we will maximize our overall score.”
