After last Friday’s final cut, the roster for the varsity girls soccer team is set, and the team is starting to prepare for the season ahead.
“Spring break workouts and conditioning are the most important things happening right now,” said junior Lexie Hunk, a center midfielder. “We’re all out of shape, and it’s been a while since any of us have touched a ball.”
The team has a week to get in shape and prepare, as it will begin playing next Friday at the Edwardsville Round Robin Tournament.
According to Hunk, the week of practice will be valuable to the future success of the team.
“We have a lot of good players, but it might take a while to mold and shape together because we come from different club teams,” Hunk said.
Getting in the groove with each other is the first step in accomplishing a lofty goal for the season.
“We want to win districts. It’s just a matter of how hard we want to work,” said Hunk.
