Girls amid successful streak

The girls soccer team won a third straight game Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Howell North. The team also beat Warrenton 8-0 and St. Charles West 2-1 during the winning streak.

The team is now 6-4 and looking ahead at what could be, a far cry from two weeks ago, when it was trying to break a losing streak.

Junior wing defender Lexie Hunk contributes stronger offensive efforts to the team’s recent winning ways.

“We are using quicker passes and being more aggressive on the ball,” Hunk said.

Because the team has started playing more dynamically, it believes its early season goal can still be accomplished.

“We want to win districts. That was our goal earlier, and that’s our goal now,” Hunk said.

The team can go a long way to towards accomplishing that goal by winning Thursday’s game against Howell High. This high school rivalry does not lose its heat when the two girls soccer teams meet. This game is of utmost importance to all the girls on the team.

“This game is very important. It’ll give us bragging rights for the rest of the year. Expect a super competitive and really aggressive,” Hunk said. “To win, we have to be a team that makes no mistakes or a team that capitalizes on the other team’s mistakes.”
