Girls tennis dominates with first win of the season
After the loss of the girls tennis team’s first game vs. Howell High, the team struck gold as they triumphed against Duchesne on Sept. 6. The girls varsity team scored 9-0 and JV scored 3-0, leaving Duchesne shut out. The defeat against Duchesne was the team’s first win of the season, causing the team to have a new level of determination.
Nerves were calmed after the match against Duchesne producing confidence compared to their first game against one of the teams most rigid competitors.
Junior Brittney Kennedy, a new player on the JV team reflects on the two games and how they have strengthened the team and their performance.
“Duchesne was definitely less of a challenge, but a lot of us had some bad nerves that we need to get over since the Howell match was our first of the season,” said Kennedy.
Freshman Maddie Gunnell, the only freshman on the varsity team, views this success as a confidence boost for the whole team since their baffling loss against Howell High.
“I think winning was great because the win gave our team a lot of confidence,” said Gunnell.
