Girls tennis places 3rd in Troy tournament

Alarms were set early on Saturday morning as the girls tennis team rode on the long bus ride to their doubles tournament in Troy. Although the girls had to arrive at school at 6:45 a.m., the outcome was worth it, as the team placed 3rd in their tournament. The tournament was an enormous success for the whole team and school as they held their trophy with proud faces. The team played against Troy Buchanan, winning 3-2, Fort Zumwalt South, losing 1-4, and St. Dominic, winning 5-0.

Teammates like junior Andrea Kohrs were extremely proud of their achievement that showed how hard the team has worked this season.

“We didn’t like the fact that we had to be up early, but it was worth it, since we placed 3rd out of 8 schools,” said Kohrs. “We were excited to come back with a trophy for all our hard work and practice.”

The success of the tournament has displayed the hard work that the team has made throughout the season as it is nearing the end. Sophomore Kristen Wagner is elated and proud of the team’s improvement during the games while bonding with each other as close friends.

“The team has grown in their confidence as our bond with each other grows stronger,” said Wagner.

With only less than a dozen games left, the girls will play one of their last home games on Sept. 23 against Fort Zumwalt West at 3:30p.m.
